happy mother's day 2009

I creeped up early in the morning (well not, like, EARLY early... more of after I heard Mmmy switch the vacume cleaner off and head off to shower) and started setting up the dining table. Mmmy's b'day was the Tuesday after Mother's Day so I got her an extra special present 'cos I won't be around then and I'm kinda dry on the financials to get her 2 kaboombang gifts :P

moi: *yells* MMMY!!!!!!!!
Mmmy: *yells back* What??!!
moi: Something is wrong with the table!!
Mmmy: Who said?? I just cleared it this morning!!
moi: Really!!
Mmmy: I'm not the maid!!
moi: But Mmmy...!! GO SEE. TABLE something WRONG!!
Mmmy: What is wrong with... *mini shrieks*

See what I got her!! Delectable Mother's Day cupcakes, IKEA watering vase + plastic I-dunno-what-flowers-are-those and a sumtin-sumtin from Kate Spade :)

Those and IKEA Komplemen shoe boxes 'cos she's got a hangar filled with un-homed heels.

We had dim sum brunch at Reunion, Bangsar Village II (currently Mmmy and my favourite Cina breakkie place!!) and Mmmy got into the business of tearing the sh*t open! Look at the other mothers staring over in envy...

Mmmy's a darn hottie, don't you think? There's definitely something in that Creme De La Mer...
Voila toilletries pouche that can fit her everything!! Mmmy's quite a bit of a jet-setter these days... and now she can travel it chic New Yorker style. Kate Spade, Malaysia was so very kind to gift-wrap it beauuu-tifully. Mmmy is a big fan of nice presentation.

Weeee!! Mmmy couldn't bring herself to eat the sugar bunny mummy.

"Give me more lovin' than I've ever had

Make it all better when I'm feelin' sad
Tell me that I'm special even when I know I'm not...

There's only 1 thing 2 do
3 words for you, I love you
There's only 1 way 2 say
Those 3 words and that's what I'll do, I love you..."

Happy Mother's Day Mmmy. I love you.

dependent love puppy

Today marks the last day of my penalty. I have successfully completed a month of weekend rounds. I was punished for failing my Orthopedics test. It’s a pretty brutal price to pay: not having a weekend for a month in a department that’s supposedly quite comfortable. Imagine waking up at 06:30 for work everyday, literally. I have to say I’m thiiis close to Crazy Town. If it wasn’t for Guy coming over every weekend I seriously cannot imagine getting out of this with my sanity intact. Anyways it is the last day of the month and I ought to be celebrating the fact I’m done with ‘prison’ but something snapped when Guy’s car pulled out of my driveway heading towards PD (Port Dickson). I started sobbing sputtering like a hose on a broken tap. It’s either I’ve been in this town wayyy too long (and gone nuts-o) or I’ve turned into a dependent love sick puppy. OMG I told myself NEVER to be one of those girls! The dreaded sort: the ‘sticky’ sort. I always prided myself to be this independent singletini who is self-sufficient enough to watch a movie / eat / shop… basically LIVE by herself. I can’t now. I need him. Always. Yup, like that old Bon Jovi song.

Miss ChewChew: how are things going with relatinship
moi: going good. i've come to a point in d relatnsp phase wher i'm quite clingy
moi: not clingy per se but... sumtin like d whole cant-live-without-u business
Miss ChewChew: yeah it happens... it's all due to habit
Miss ChewChew: habit forms quite quickly and you get used to the person
Miss ChewChew: and suddenly breaking the habit / pattern (if he can't see you, or you can't see him), results in a 'missing' feeling

Tell me babydolls is this how it is? Do we all turn into spineless mush once we’ve found that somebody? It could be that this is just the initial stage of adjustment but I’ve found myself neglecting everything right down to my toenails ever since I’ve gotten into a relationship. All I do everyday is think of him and wait for his call. I don’t do anything else. I’ve also gotten wayyy too happy that I’ve been eating like a squirrel and now resemble The Longevity God (yea the one with the peach and walking stick) with a vagina! Crap!

Did you go through this phase in the relationship (the eat-think-drink boyfriend / girlfriend)?? If you did, how did things mellow out? Tell me please!

spa de langkawi / nuit de langkawi

(super backdated entry...)

A trip to Langkawi is not complete without a day at the SPAAAAA... yes dayang-dayang sekalian, time for us to go nip into the steaming kolam and mandi seri y'all!

You will find numerous spa centres sprouting up along Pantai Cenang. I've got this serious paranoia 'bout being involuntary filmed in public, such as: in dressing rooms, public toilets, spa... so I was cautious 'bout choosing non-dodgy places. Miss BellaBella recommended we go to Alun-Alun Spa 'cos that was where she went the last time and returned home rejuvenated like a happy fetus. The girls may not find it familiar but Alun-Alun sounds super Indon-lor of which I think means long road or somesort like that.

Upon entrance we were greeted with the serene smell of frangipani and Balinese/Yogyakartan interiors. I feel super "hmm... :)" already.

It's highly obvious I look the most unkempt and on-the-verge-of-pulling-all-my-hair-out in comparison to others. You cannot imagine how much I need some tender loving care..

A purple frangipani. So delightful.

Miss YinYin and I shared a room but we quickly forgot about each other's presence the moment our bodies hit the massage table. Well at least I did.

The extravagant marble tub's make reminds me of Uma Sapna. Oooh how I miss Bali.

The girls were crazy over the "rain" shower.

Happy feet.

Came dusk we kittens went aprowlin'

Miss BellaBella loves this place:

It says 'Little Lylia's Chillout Cafe'. The drinks there are nuts cheap. OK not super nuts cheap like teh-o-ais but you get a strong cocktail for half the price you pay in a regular bar back in KL.

We weren't even there an hour and the girls were showing signs of tipsy.

It's a beach bar situated just a little off the shore of Pantai Cenang. Quite obscure so you gotta be really attentive to find the headboard sign beside a mamak place. Take your shoes off and enjoy the sand between your toes and you sip (very quickly) on my favourite: Wild Night Out. There is a rasta groove in the air and at 21:00, someone would be singing open-mic. Really laid-back which is why we're all in Langkawi in the first place: to let loose..!

Now this is what you call a Wild Night Out! LOL OK maybe not..

She kissed a girl and the other girl didn't like it.

She kissed another girl just to try it. I do hope her boyfriend don't mind it.

The girls didn't wanna go home. So we made a U-turn towards Chime Club at Sheraton Hotel. They had a really good live band from The Phillipines. Those people really knew how and what to sing + shake their tail-feathers. Too bad it was a quiet crowd (off peak mah..). The girls went crazy anyways.

We also pop it like it's hot... Me not so much the other two. Man medical life has made me old.

If you desire just a night to yourself you could always tah-pau miniatures to make snazzy cocktails. This is the opportunity to try everything out there...! There are tons of duty-free shops mushrooming all over Kuah. It's possible to actually go mad there ;)

See that El Senorio tequila? It has a worm in it! Tradition says the person who finishes the bottle eats the worm. I bought that for sure!

harrods comes to town

Yes, my Harrods bag is cute.

No, it's not a Grade-AAA.

Yes, I got it from Harrods (where else-lah? It's like asking "Eh where you get KFC Fried Chicken ah?").

No, I didn't go to London (not on my houseman schedule is that even possibly imagined).

Yes, I got it from KL.

No, I'm not joking.

Got Harrods in KL apa... baru buka kat KLCC tu...!

Don't believe kah? Neh...!

If seeing is believing...

Dddy's new chum is the CEO of Harrods KL. how cool is that?? He SO has the best job in the country! We got a personally guided tour of every inch of the boutique. Here they are standing beside tiles especially imported from um... some European country(??) tile-by-tile.

And the plaster ceiling is Japanese. Same people who made the exact same plaster ceiling for the Knightsbridge outlet. Wooo... we got a lil' bit of London in KL!

That's the kopi bar. I foresee lotsa expats having abit of a quick Joe en route to work.

They even make the kopi bartenders wear fancy Venetian-like outfits which are brilliant! That coffee making machine is supposedly very very expensiv-o...!

There are truckloadsa tea to choose from. You know-lah, the English and their tea!

There are also tractorloadsa other goodies to pick up for a very expensive but hey-it's-harrods basket / hamper. Their ketchup is RM50 but really yummy. I know 'cos I tested the sauce out and it's just divine tomato heaven. If you're a ketchup connoiseur you gotta get a bottle of this.

Aren't their Redcurrant Jelly jars just so pink and divine?? I want me one of those..

If you think that weren't enough there are even more tea you can buy by weight. My favourite: Rose Tea with Petals

You may not have noticed this but there is a cute lil' chic Tea Salon just after the fine foods store. Unless you've got ace connections it's best to make early reservations as there are only 6 tables in that place. You might actually be too intimidated to step in but fret not my dear budget fashionistas... the price is steep but manageable. It's Rm15 for a glass of juice in a really tall glass. Fair game. Do try their baked prawns and fish-n-chips. Yum stuff!!
